The Self Storage Association encourages its members to support HR 5244 - "An Act Concerning the Sales Tax on Self Storage Units." The bill recently introduced in the state's legislature that would repeal the 6 percent tax on self storage rentals. The Connecticut Self Storage Association has posted a link to help operators contact the representative of their home town and/or the town in which they do business.
In addition to the CT-SSA and the SSA, the bill is backed by several parties in the state sympathetic to lower-income residents, many of whom utilize self storage. The bill has not yet been given a public hearing, which must happen by early March or it will be rescinded for this session.
