Joe Doherty is SSA’s SVP, Chief Legal & Legislative Officer. In conjunction with SSA-affiliated state associations, he has led successful legislative initiatives in over 25 states. SSA’s legislative efforts focus on modernizing self storage lien laws, providing for simplified licensing to sell tenant insurance, and defeating legislation harmful to the storage industry.

Joe has a J.D., summa cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law and B.A. in History from Emory University.  Joe, his wife Christa, and their four children live in the Mount Vernon section of Fairfax County, Virginia.
