Employer must ensure that every new hire executes an I-9 within the first 3 days of employment and must retain the form for at least three years from the hiring date or one year after the last day of employment, whichever occurs later. Employee I-9 forms must be accessible for inspection by the agents of the Immigration and Employment Rights section of the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Labor. Self storage facility operators may download copies of the new form from the U. S. Citizenship and Immigration website.
